Visa on arrival and Departure Tax

Hi there

Going to Brunei just for the one day (stopover) on way to Bangkok. Because we are Aussies looks like we have to get a visa on arrival for $5. Do you also have to pay departure tax on leaving Brunei???? An if so, how much????

I have also read that there are NOT a lot of taxis around, what would be the chances of leaving the orchid garden hotel for a day in the city (shopping, sigtseeing etc etc) and NOT getting a taxi back to hotel??

Does anyone know if you can ask your taxi driver to come back at a certain time and pick you up again. Do they do that???? OR how easy is it to get local bus from city back to the Orchid garden hotel????

Has anyone stayed at the orchid garden hotel recently and used there free airport/transfers?? are they OK and reliable???

Is there anywhere around the hotel we can get a night time meal. We arrive at hotel around 6pmish and will probably want dinner. How is the food in the hotel and price wise is it reasonable to eat at hotel. (we are 4 adults travelling)

Thanks kindly for all your help in advance

Visa on arrival and Departure Tax

Hi,

Yes, you have to pay airport departure tax of BND$12.

Yes there are not a lot of taxis in Brunei but the hotel could book you one easily. As for taxis going back to hotel, if you are shopping in Town or in Gadong area, you could make a pick up appointment or just get one from nearby hotel.

Orchid Garden hotel airport transfer is preety reliable, just make sure you informed them earlier.

As for their food, it is not bad actually, they have dinner buffet and a la carte and the price is reasonable.

There are lots of restaurants and cafes but not walking distance from the hotel. Best place to go is in Gadong or Kiulap areas.

Cheers

If you are booking your airline tickets from Australia departure tax should be included in your ticket price. Check with the airline.

Thanks very much for all your replys. I will check with my travel agent. Really looking forward to going to Brunei, even if it is only or one day.

kind regards Gizzy
