Hi Jacqueline, I would also be interested to know,a s we are going in September. but I did find this in Wikipedia:

The Brunei dollar replaced the Malaya and British Borneo dollar in 1967 after the formation of Malaysia and the independence of Singapore. Until June 23, 1973, the Malaysian ringgit was exchangeable at par with the Singapore dollar and Brunei dollar. The Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Brunei Currency and Monetary Board still maintain the exchangeability of their two currencies. The dollar is accepted as ';customary tender'; in Singapore according to the Currency Interchangeability Agreement,[1] although it is not legal tender there. Likewise, the Singapore dollar is customarily accepted in Brunei.

Cheers

Hi,

For your information. Malaysian Ringgit is not accepted in Brunei. You can alwez head to the nearest money changer. There is one at the departure hall at the brunei airport

In Brunei we use Brunei Dollars. In fact the exchange rate is about 1BND$=RM$2.0

Depending on the time of ur flight arrival.

If you have time to spare at night. Visit the Gadong Night Market.

If not, head for a quick trip to the Water Village or to the Jame Asri Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque

The Brunei currency is linked to the Singapore dollar and you can take Singapore dollars and use them in Brunei. You%26#39;re often given Brunei currency in return but make sure you get rid of the Brunei currency before leaving - it%26#39;s really hard to exchange in other countried.

Airport is about 15 minutes from Bandar (capital) but Gadong Night Market is closer - grab a cab there if you%26#39;re there in the evening and try some of the local food.

There is a transit bus that will take you on a tour. You will see the desk with someone manning it as you leave the plane corridor and enter the airport proper.

MYR 2.41 = $BND 1 as of 17/8. Good rate at the moment.

Thankyou all who replied to my post. We had a brilliant time in Brunei and did indeed take the trips offered. The hotel was superb and we have about £10 in Brunei dollars left for our next visit!
