Airport Facilities

Thanks to the airline I now have a 7hr stopover at the airport (not a 2hr one).... just wondering what the airport facilities are like and if there are day rooms available for hire?

Brunei Airport does not have many facilities for a stopover like that. There are a few eating places - but seven hours in the transit area would be a while. I would suggest you use the time to have a look around Brunei. You would need to get a transit visa ($10 I think). The airport is only 10 minutes from the main Brunei town area...and also about the same from the Gadong Shopping Mall. You could get to see quite a bit in that time. Depending on budget,etc, you could book a car and driver/guide (from Hertz, I have used) for 4 hours or so and get them to show you around Brunei.

I probably should mention flight arrives 6.30pm and then we depart at 1.30am.... Will there be much to do out and about? Dinner I guess?

Allowing time for your flight arriving a bit late (which the RBA Brisbane flight often does!), it will be sunset when you arrive in Brunei. You could get a cab into Brunei town area and have a ride on a water taxi around the village and a wander a round the old part of town. Alternatively, just get to the Gadong Mall - a large shopping centre area 10 mins from airport. Plenty of places to have some dinner, wander around shops - and a cinema if you have more time. I think the shops shut there at around 10.
