Hi,
We will be shortly moving to Brunei and was hoping you could give me some advice about women%26#39;s running. I%26#39;ve heard so many different rumors about what I can and can%26#39;t wear, could you please let me know what is the appropriate running kit. Additionally, we are planning to have our 19 year old son accompany us, could you please let me know whether their are any expats of similiar age, or would he find it hard to find friends of similiar age and find employment.
Many thanks for your help
Liz
Moving to Brunei
Hi Liz,
We are expats who live in Miri and have friends in Brunei, most of them live either in the shell camp or the army garrison camp. However a couple live close to Bandar in a complex for pilots and engineers of the Sultans airline.
Friends who live in the camp don%26#39;t seem to have any problems with running gear, eg shorts and t-shirts. Best to keep your shoulders covered if you are not sure however I do know of people who run in singlets.
I can%26#39;t really say what things are like in the capital but if that is where you are going then let me know and I will get a contact for you.
Most of the expat young people are only up to the age of around 17/18 as they all go to the International school in Jerudong (my daughter goes there). Once again if you are living close to the army camp it will be slightly different. Getting a visa may be difficult for your son as far as employment goes, they don%26#39;t seem keen on employing expats, also the wages that are paid are very low.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else.
Debs from NZ.
