The Sheraton or Empire?

I%26#39;m planning on doing a stopover in Brunei around Christmas time. I%26#39;ve read the reviews but has anyone got an up todate opinion of the Sheraton or Empire, I%26#39;ll be staying two or three nights.

It depends on what you are looking for.

The Sheraton Hotel lies in the centre of the Capital City, Bandar Seri Begawan so you are literally minutes away from the Kampung Ayer, Royal Regalia, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and the Museums. There is a shopping complex (Yayasan) opposite the Mosque and of course other small shops lining the roads in the Capital city. You can also request for a drive along the Jalan Kota Batu road (fairly scenic road if you like to see more of the local scenes along the Brunei river). Sheraton is also only about 10 mins%26#39; drive to the Kiulap/Gadong areas which is the main shopping areas in Brunei. Having said that, being a local, I have never stayed in Sheraton Brunei . We normally go there for dinners, which I would say is fairly ok.

The Empire Hotel is located along the Jerudong coastal highway, hence about 15-20mins%26#39; drive from the airport and the Capital city. It is 5 mins%26#39; drive away from the Jerudong Park Playground (if you%26#39;re interested in going). However, I would recommend Empire if you are looking for some relaxing time with beautiful views of the South China Sea. It also offers more variety in its dining experience compared to the Sheraton. The beautiful sunset you get at the Empire itself is quite worth it. We%26#39;ve stayed here quite a few times when we felt we needed a relaxing short getaway within the country.

Shereton hotel has recently been renovated. So the room itself is refurbished. As for location, it is good compared to Empire. (Unless you are looking for resort kind of stay.)

However, I would recommend you to check out Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.

Where is the Rizqun located relative to the Sheraton? I really like the location of the Sheraton and have been considering it strongly for an October visit. --- but if the Rizqun is not too far away from the center, it might be a good alternative.

Rizqun is less than a 10minz car ride away from Sheraton.

Rizqun is located right at our busiest town, apparently it is a hotel ';inside'; our biggest mall in Brunei, we call it ';THE MALL';. With a stone throw away, roughly 2-3minutes walk, is our famous GADONG night market. Where u can find local delicacies etc..food~

Rizqun is located at where things are happening. Shopping, Cinema, and Food. To get to the city centre, you can always get a bus ride at the bus stop in front of Rizqun. It only take about 10-20 Minutes. I can say it is about 10km away from city centre or shereton.
