Ideas for long transfer wait in Brunei

Hi there,

On September 17th we have a long stopover in Brunei airport while we are travelling from Dubai through to Kota Kinabalu (arrive 10am, need to be back at the airport at 3pm to check in again).

We have 2 very young children with us - can anyone recommend an easy trip outside of the hotel, a short taxi ride away, like an air-conditioned shopping mall for example. Am looking for somewhere easy to go with the kids for a few hours (perhaps with a fast food restaurant that is open during Ramadan).

We%26#39;ve been to the Empire hotel before and done a brief city tour so don%26#39;t need to do this again.

Any advice is appreciated

Paul

Ideas for long transfer wait in Brunei

Hi Paul. Given that you%26#39;ve down a city tour before, I would suggest with the young kids you just get a taxi to the Gadong Shopping Mall. Less than 10 mins from the airport. This is the largest and newest mall in Brunei. It is surrounded by strip shops and several smaller malls. It is great for kids, as there is a movie cinema in the complex. It is air conditioned. There is a McDonalds and Pizza Hut just outside, as well as a Svensons and food court near the cinema. The only decent coffee in Brunei is also at the Coffee Bean cafe in the foyer of the adjoining Centrepoint Hotel...and these outlets cater for expats and Westerners not bound by Ramadam eating restrictions! Also it is easy to find at cab at Centrepoint to get you back to the airport easily.
